as pangeaseed's seawalls: artists for oceans events were underway, i couldn’t seem to shake my mind away from thinking of the children who lived in the surrounding fishing villages. if some form of community outreach was implemented, would this alter the course of their path? would one of these kids instead grow up to be a muralist? how much are they missing out on by not being exposed to an experience like this, one taking place right in their backyard? what might they gain from learning to trust their voice, to take action, to speak up for the very oceans they grow up knowing so well? this raised more questions than answers, but the hope is to someday be able to place a heavier emphasis on incorporation of the community.
